How it works
Three steps total. You only handle the first.
You pay the regular price times the months you chose, as one charge. No account, no subscription. The person opening it never enters a card.
A single email contains a claim link and the code written out below it. Your receipt carries the code as well, with a private link that shows whether the gift has been claimed.
They create a free account or sign in, use the code, and the membership goes live. Time only starts counting once claimed, and the code works once. If they already have an active plan, the gift waits and starts by itself when that plan ends.

The questions people ask.
No. Choose the gift, enter the two email addresses and pay. Your receipt carries the code and a private link that shows whether the gift has been claimed and lets you resend it. If you sign in first, the gift is also listed with any others you have sent.
No, and they never will be. A gift never creates a subscription, and the recipient never enters a credit card. When the gifted months run out, the account reverts to the free account, and every breakdown they received remains theirs permanently.
Once they claim it, the gift is saved to their account and starts automatically the day their paid plan ends. It works the other way too: if they start paying for a plan while a gift is running, the remaining gift time pauses and starts again later.
No. The claim link guides them through creating one, and the gift is attached the moment they arrive. If they already have an account, they sign in and claim it with a single tap.
No. A code is claimed once, by one account, and is then spent. Posting it anywhere after that does nothing. Until it is claimed, treat it like cash.
Your receipt contains the code, and the private link in it lets you resend the gift to a corrected address as long as it has not been claimed. Signed-in buyers can also do this from their gifts page.
Not for five years. A prepaid gift is a gift certificate, and that is the legal floor in the United States.
Yes, starting at age 13. Account creation requires a date of birth: those 16 and older can manage their own accounts, but for ages 13 to 15 a parent or guardian must create and hold the account, confirming their status during sign-up. For a young teenager it is best to send the gift to the parent’s email. We cannot open accounts for anyone under 13. The team checks every breakdown before it goes into the public library, and a parent can ask for removal at any time.
