Terms of Service

Grappling Breakdown provides human video analysis of grappling footage. You submit a video, and a coach timestamps the key moments, writes a report, records a voiceover, and assigns one target drill. These terms are the agreement between you and us for that service and for the website around it.

By creating an account you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not create an account.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, or have a parent or guardian agree on your behalf. Nobody under 13 may hold an account. For an athlete aged 13 to 15 the account is opened and held by a parent or guardian, who confirms that at sign-up. From 16 you may hold your own account. We ask for a date of birth at sign-up, it is set once, and it is used only for these rules. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself.

One person, one account. We may suspend an account that is being shared, used to abuse another member or coach, or used to submit footage the account holder has no right to submit. Suspension is a decision a person makes, and we tell you the reason.

What you can submit. Your own rolls and matches, and competition matches, for a coach’s analysis. Our content guidelines say what can and cannot be uploaded. Every submission asks you to confirm that you have permission to share footage of the other people shown. You keep ownership of footage that is yours: submitting it does not transfer anything to us.

You grant us permission to host your footage, share it with the coach reviewing it, and produce your breakdown from it. The breakdown is a new recording that carries your footage with your coach’s voiceover and camera over it, watermarked. That permission lasts for the life of your breakdown, because the breakdown is built on the footage.

Reviewing footage means working with it. A coach plays it, pauses it, marks positions in it, and records commentary over the parts being discussed. Producing a breakdown that way is what the permission above is for, and none of it changes who owns the footage. It stays yours.

Every breakdown goes into the public library. The library is how the service exists at the price it has: every delivered breakdown is published on this site, after a check by the team, for anyone to watch. What is public is the video walkthrough: your footage with your coach’s voice and camera over it, the move labels and the coach’s note on each moment, with your name as it appears on your profile. Your written report, the summary and the assigned drill stay private to you.

If you would rather keep a breakdown off the internet, choose the private option when you submit it. A private breakdown stays between you and your coach and appears nowhere public. The option is per video and is chosen before any work is done.

Taking a breakdown out of the library. Ask us at any time, for any real reason, and we take the public page down. Anyone else who appears in the footage can ask at any time with no questions asked. Removal hides the public page; it does not delete the breakdown or the footage, which stay in your account. Search engines take time to drop a page they have already listed, and anyone who saved a copy while it was public still has it.

A few public breakdowns are picked for the Grappling Breakdown accounts on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Your name and your gym are tagged there only if you asked for that on the submission form, and you can change your mind at any time from the breakdown’s own page.

Do not submit footage of anyone who has told you not to, footage that is not yours to submit, or anything unlawful. We remove material that breaks this rule, and we may suspend the account.

Every paid breakdown is reviewed by a human black belt or above. It is never generated by AI, and the coach who marks the timestamps is the coach who writes the report and records the voiceover.

We aim to deliver breakdowns within 48 hours and we measure it, but it is a target rather than a strict guarantee. Selecting a specific coach can extend the turnaround, and we say so when you choose.

Coaching is opinion, not instruction from an authority, and it is not medical advice. Training is dangerous. What you do with a breakdown is your decision and your risk.

Unreviewable footage costs you nothing. If a coach cannot review what you sent, whether the footage is too dark, too far away, or the wrong match, they mark it unreviewable and your credit goes back.

Delivered breakdowns survive cancellation. Canceling stops future billing and future monthly credits without deleting completed work: every report and voiceover stays in your library permanently, and you can sign in years later and find it there.

Deleting your account is different from canceling. Deletion permanently removes your account, your reports and your breakdowns, with no possibility of recovery. The delete screen says so before you confirm.

Memberships renew automatically on a monthly schedule, or once a year on the 12-month option, until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from your billing page, and the membership runs to the end of the period you have paid for.

Use monthly breakdown credits within that billing month. They do not roll over. Breakdowns bought individually never expire.

Stripe processes all payments. We never see or store your card details.

Gifts. A gifted membership or breakdown is a one-time purchase at the regular price with no recurring charge, and the person claiming it never enters a card. A gift code stays valid for five years from purchase. If the recipient already pays for a plan, the gift waits and starts by itself when that plan ends. Anything else about a gift, such as a mistyped email or an unclaimed code, is handled directly by support.

Refunds. A breakdown that was not delivered, or footage marked unreviewable, returns your credit automatically. To request a refund, contact us. Refunds for On Demand breakdowns are available until the breakdown is delivered, and for 7 days after delivery. A Legend waitlist deposit is refundable in full until you are matched; see the Legends page.

The public library carries breakdowns produced by our own coaches for a member. The platform deliberately has no public upload path anywhere.

The team checks a breakdown before we publish it. We can decline to publish, and we can take something down after publishing, and we give the reason to the member it belongs to.

Members aged 13 to 17 are published on the same terms as everyone else, and the team checks every breakdown of a member under 18 before it goes into the library. Where a parent or guardian holds the account, that adult is expected to be watching. A parent can ask for removal at any time.

Every public breakdown page has a Request removal link. A request that involves someone under 18 is answered within 24 hours, and any other request within 48 hours. Copyright and intellectual property claims are handled under our copyright policy, which includes our repeat infringer policy. Copyright notices go to copyright@grapplingbreakdown.com.

Selecting Roast changes the tone without reducing the coaching: same coach, same timestamps, same analysis, same drill. Positions, decisions, and habits are fair game. Bodies, injuries, belts, and beginners doing beginner things are not. If a Roast crosses that line, tell us and we re-deliver it in the standard tone at no cost.

Coaches are independent contractors, not employees. They agree separately to a revenue share and to the standards described on this site. A coach who repeatedly misses turnaround, or whose work does not meet the standard, stops receiving submissions.

Breakdowns a coach has delivered stay credited to them regardless of their later status on the roster.

Member feedback. We survey members privately after every delivery. Only admin staff read individual answers, scores and comments, and we never show them to the coach they are about. A coach receives an average across enough responses that no single member can be identified from it, together with anything an administrator passes on, which does not name the member unless the member has agreed to it.

Payout costs. We pay coaches through Stripe Connect. Stripe charges us a fee for each payout: a monthly charge in any month a payout is made, plus a percentage of the amount and a flat charge per payout. Stripe sets those rates and can change them. We deduct the fee from attributable revenue before calculating the coach share, so a coach bears the coach-share percentage of it and we bear the rest.

A balance under the minimum payout amount, or under a higher minimum the coach has chosen, carries forward to the next payout period. Nothing is forfeited. We pay carried balances in the period they are sent.

The current rates, the current minimum, and your own balance are shown on your earnings page, before the first payout is ever sent.

We provide the service as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

We may change these terms. We email members about a material change before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page changes with it. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new version.

You can stop using the service at any time. We can end the agreement if you break these terms, and we give you the reason in writing.
